KIT CARSON ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE INC
As an Electric Mapping Technician for KCEC, you will be responsible for entering data and maintaining the
mapping system for the KCEC distribution lines. Within the parameters dictated by managers, Cooperative
policy and applicable RUS, OSHA, DOT, PRC and other regulatory requirements. This position has moderate
autonomy and latitude to identify and solve problems and make decisions necessary to manage the operation
of the electric distribution system dependent on training, experience, and certification.
What You’ll Do:
-Enter and maintain distribution system maps and related engineering and customer data using
appropriate mapping software.
-Extracts and corrects GPS data to update the system
-Enters data onto the various mapping database
-Backs up data on a regular schedule using the appropriate system
-Records and reports any potential hazards to the respective Operations Departments
-Maintains records and documentation which support distribution system mapping
required by KCEC. Completes and submits required cooperative, RUS, and other reports to the
appropriate supervisor concerning mapping operations, materials, and equipment.
-Train respective cooperative field personnel in acquiring GPS location data and physical plant
inventory. May also train others in the use of computerized staking software.
-Coordinates activities and instructs Cooperative personnel or contract mapping companies on data
acquisition and procedures.
-Maintains Cooperative engineering and customer information related to mapping programs and

– HS Diploma or equivalent
– Technical certification in distribution analysis and mapping software.
– Two years of experience in basic engineering software is required.
– Must have a valid NM driver’s license.
– Must have and maintain an insurable driving record.
– Must qualify for a surety bond in with cooperative policy.
