2025 KIT CARSON PROPANE SCHOLARSHIP
Kit Carson Propane is pleased to offer a new scholarship program to support applicants enrolled in trade programs. The program will award one thousand dollars ($1000) to one applicant in the following areas Penasco, Questa, Ojo Caliente, Angel Fire and Taos. The award is disbursed over a two-year term. Five hundred dollars ($500) each year. Applicants can study to become a home builder, general contractor, carpenter, electrician, CDL Driver, plumber, HVAC specialist, or other building and construction trade professional.
Eligibility
- Available to qualified students who attend either a public or private school and whose parents are members of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, Inc., or receive service from Kit Carson Internet or Kit Carson Propane and reside within the service area of the Cooperative. A “public or private school” includes a public, charter, Christian or parochial school or a student who has successfully completed a home-school program.
- Scholarships are to be granted to attend a recognized and accredited Trade and Vocational institution, for example Welder, Solar Installer, Carpenter, Pilot, Mason, Service technician, Electrician, Commercial Driver, Automotive Mechanic and Plumber.
- The applicant must be of good character as evidenced by at least one (1) letter of recommendation from teachers, principals, counselors, etc. from the schools they are currently attending.
- Applicant must make his/her arrangements for an official transcript of school record to be provided to the Kit Carson Propane Board.
- Complete Scholarship Application Form.
- Submit a Letter of Intent to the Kit Carson Propane Board. Include reasons requesting scholarship and projected career path goals. Letter can be emailed to svigil@kitcarson.com.
- Applications must be postmarked no later than April 11, 2025. If any of the documentation requested is not provided by the deadline date your application will be denied. Awards will be announced within thirty (30) days of the deadline date.
- Applicants must provide an original class schedule from the college or school they will be attending to Shannon Vigil, Kit Carson Propane General Manager for verification before monies will be disbursed.
