Requests for Proposal (RFP) for the addition of up to 7 megawatts of local, solar photovoltaic power to Kit Carson customers.

Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC), a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving Taos, Colfax and Rio Arriba Counties since 1944, announced today that it is launching a Requests for Proposal (RFP) for the addition of up to 7 megawatts of local, solar photovoltaic power to serve their customers.

KCEC is launching this RFP as Phase 2 of its local solar power efforts. Phase 2 is a significant part of KCEC’s plans to be 100% powered during the daytime by solar by 2022. KCEC will provide sites to RFP participants to use for their proposals.

“This is a significant expansion of our commitment to help facilitate the transition of the energy landscape in the Kit Carson service territory to a more sustainable, competitive future and help realize our community goal of 100% Daytime Solar by 2022,” said Luis A. Reyes Jr. Kit Carson’s CEO. “These Distributed Energy Resources of solar will be used to serve Kit Carson ’s loads in Taos and Angel Fire, New Mexico.”
