Invitation to 2025 KCEC’s Annual Meeting- June 14 , 2025

KCEC invites you to our annual meeting on June 14th, 2025. This important event will acknowledge the achievements of our Cooperative, showcase our ongoing initiatives, and provide you with an opportunity to discuss your concerns. It will be a time for celebration, where we express our gratitude to our esteemed members and highlight the value of a local rural cooperative in Northern New Mexico. This year, all registered members will receive a $15 credit off their electric bill, along with a chance to win cash and prizes!

Some of KCEC’s achievements include:

  •  KCEC is actively implementing forest fire prevention measures for 2025. The region’s lack of precipitation during winter heightens the risk of wildfires as spring approaches.
  • KCEC takes pride in being 100% daytime solar and is dedicated to sustainable energy. KCEC is expanding its efforts towards numerous upcoming projects and looks forward to sharing these developments with its members.
  • Amalia II Solar and Battery Project: This 8.75 MW solar energy facility, paired with an 8.75 MW battery energy storage system, has received approval from planning and zoning. Construction begins in June 2025, with an anticipated completion date of December 2025.
  • Microgrid Battery Project in Taos Ski Valley, Penasco, and El Rito West: These distributed battery energy storage projects, totaling 7.5 MW, are complete, and a contractor has been selected. Construction is expected to commence in June 2025, with a completion target of June 2026.
  •  Clean Hydrogen Initiative: This initiative involves 104 MW of renewable energy from hydrogen and solar facilities and battery energy storage systems in northern New Mexico. Funding has been awarded, and the project is in the planning phase. Its completion date is projected to be in the second quarter of 2028.
  • KCEC is investing significantly in tree trimming, infrastructure improvements, and system enhancements to ensure reliability, resilience, and community safety. These measures are crucial for mitigating forest fires and maintaining the electrical system at affordable costs.
  • The Cooperative provided $47,000 in student scholarships throughout KCEC’s service territory this year.
  • KCEC continues to sponsor and participate in vital initiatives and events throughout its service territory.
  • Kit Carson Internet has reached 14,500 internet subscribers, providing high-speed broadband.
  • Kit Carson Propane is still providing propane to underserved areas and expanding at affordable prices.
  • and much more…..
