Kit Carson Electric Cooperative leadership and members of the Board of Trustees recently met with Questa Independent School District’s School Board Members, Superintendent, Principal, and staff for an in-depth and productive discussion surrounding the Questa Solar and Hydrogen Facility.
The session provided a transparent look at the project’s design, operations, and, most importantly, its safety measures. KCEC emphasized that safety is not just a requirement but the foundation of every decision made. From advanced engineering standards and continuous monitoring systems to strict operational protocols and emergency preparedness, every aspect of the facility is designed to protect the community, students, and surrounding environment.
Also joining the conversation were representatives from UNM–Taos, who highlighted exciting future job opportunities and career pathways connected to renewable energy and emerging technologies. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed for a rapidly evolving workforce.
Together, QISD, UNM–Taos, and KCEC are working toward thoughtful, community-driven solutions that prioritize safety, education, and long-term opportunity for our youth and future generations.
Not every student’s path leads to a four-year college, and this partnership recognizes the importance of creating diverse opportunities, including technical training, certifications, and hands-on careers, that meet students where they are and support their individual goals.
