Kit Carson Internet (KCI) crews are replacing a fiber line in Valle Escondido and Highway 64. We have approximately 20 people out of internet service.
The cause of the outage was a gunshot to a fiber optic line.
KCI urges members to refrain from shooting or tampering with KCEC (Electric, Internet and Propane) property. Anyone apprehended will be subject to the fullest extent of the law.
Fiber optic lines have many fiber strands that need to be handled carefully. This is costly, time and labor-intensive, creating unexpected long outage times.
