Message from CEO:
Due to strong gusting winds, KCEC experienced a power outage at 6:40 PM yesterday evening. The following communities were affected: Arroyo Hondo, Questa, Sunshine, Costilla, Amalia, Tres Piedras, and smaller surrounding areas. Power was restored to the areas from Arroyo Hondo to Questa and TSV by 8:35 PM, and the remaining areas north of Questa, including Amalia and Tres Piedras, had their power restored at 9:04 PM.
Today, we are patrolling the lines to assess any additional damage caused by the wind and to make necessary repairs. We hope this information is helpful. KCEC thanks its members for their patience as our crews and staff worked diligently to address the outage.
KCEC is committed to sharing information about yesterday’s outage as we work to improve our processes for responding to and communicating about outages in the future.

Update :
KCEC identified the cause of the outage on March 06, 2025. Crews reported that the tree that fell on the electric line was approximately 100 feet away.
