Job Description

Under general direction provided by the CEO and CFO; organizes, coordinates, and administers KCEC’s grants from identification and resource development, application preparation and submission, budget preparation and monitoring, expenditure control and reporting, invoicing for funds disbursement, and award reporting. Develops, summarizes, and maintains grant financial records to analyze, monitor, and report grant status and  progression. Reviews, communicates and ensures compliance with grant requirements. Compiles, manages, and files monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and regulatory filings. Maintains, reconciles, and reports fixed assets and property taxes.

What You’ll Do

  • Serves as the financial resource for KCEC’s grants planning, evaluation, preparation and administration. Develops and maintains detailed grant budgets; ensures alignment with grant guidelines and restrictions; monitors project expenditures; ensures proper coding, documentation and allocation  to appropriate accounts; performs periodic reconciliation of grant accounts; ensures accuracy; and resolves variances and discrepancies.
  • Plans and implements grant procurement, funding, and performance expectations and requirements. Conducts on‐going review, analysis and  monitoring to ensure compliance with grant provisions and accounting principles. Reconciles grant accounts to ensure proper allocations, cost shares,  overhead and indirect rates, and to identify variances.
  • Maintains comprehensive financial records including invoices, receipts and other relevant documents. Maintains accurate records and project files.
  • Prepares and presents grant financial reports for grantors, senior management, and Board of Trustees.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes grant proposals and projects; collects and develops comprehensive technical records and reports; presents and  interprets a variety of data; identifies alternatives, and recommends modifications and implementation processes.
  • Develops and maintains specialized databases for grant‐related materials. Records, tracks, and reports grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information.
  • Assists with audit related to grant funded projects by providing needed financial documentation, lead schedules, and explanations to auditors. Confers  with program managers to monitor grant funded projects, tracks progress, and ensures financial resources are appropriately allocated. Prepares  necessary grant amendments requests, extensions, revisions, and progress updates.
  • Participates and attends a variety of committees, task forces and professional group meetings. Maintains current information on new trends and  innovations in the field of federal, state and local grant and funding sources.
  • Maintains detailed fixed asset records including additions, depreciation, retirements, transfers, and adjustments to produce accurate depreciation schedules. Analyzes, prepares, and processes entries for depreciation, amortization, and gain/loss on disposals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in grant accounting, contract accounting, or related activities.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental grant specific accounting policies and procures.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, manuals and reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, variances and anomalies in financial data.
  • Have strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Consistently demonstrates cooperative, team-oriented behavior.
