Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC), a member-owned electric distribution cooperative serving Taos, Colfax and Rio Arriba Counties since 1944, announced today that it is launching a Requests for Proposal (RFP) for the addition of up to 7 megawatts of local, solar photovoltaic power to serve their customers.

KCEC is launching this RFP as Phase 2 of its local solar power efforts. Phase 2 is a significant part of KCEC’s plans to be 100% powered during the daytime by solar by 2022. KCEC will provide sites to RFP participants to use for their proposals.

“This is a significant expansion of our commitment to help facilitate the transition of the energy landscape in the Kit Carson service territory to a more sustainable, competitive future and help realize our community goal of 100% Daytime Solar by 2022,” said Luis A.
