System Dispatcher

Job Description

As a Dispatcher for KCEC you will be tasked with the authority and responsibility to operate the KCEC distribution system, dispatch and keep in touch with crews and consumers during outages.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provides day-to-day dispatching activities under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer to assure continuous service to the consumers in the safest manner.
  • This position helps ensure the restoration of power to normal operation following service interruption.
  • Receives calls from consumers and relays this information to crews to restore any outages.
  • Ensures the safety of the crews by staying in communication with the parties necessary.

What you bring:

  • High School education or GED certificate, required.
  • Ability to adapt to shift work.

Working Conditions; Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

  • The position is primarily sedentary in nature and duties are performed in an inside office setting.
  • Some standing, walking, stooping, and bending is required, lifting requirements are minimal.
  • Normal levels of spatial and form perception; speech, hearing, and visual acuity and finger dexterity is required.
  • The incumbent must possess and demonstrate the cognitive skills and abilities to perform the following activities on a regular basis: read, write; perform mathematical calculations; weigh and measure; learn from and perform activities based on written text; implement orders and directives; analyze and solve problems; evaluate results; train and direct others; present oral and written information; adhere to fixed methods/procedures/standards; coordinate and integrate personal duties with those of others; adjust to constantly changing duties; and, react promptly and appropriately to critical and/or emergency situations.
